Astrology with sun signs is an ancient science. It uses the position of stars and planets on an individual's birthday to predict personality trains and events in someone's life.
Using astrology to chart the destinies of people was common throughout history. The Sumerians and Babylonians, though, are actually credited with its development. It was the Greeks who came up with the word zodiac, which means "circle of animals."
Greek philosophers, such as Aristotle, refined the naming of the constellations as did the Romans, who are responsible for the names of the 12 signs that we are most familiar with today. Aquarius (the water bearer), Pisces (the fish), Aries (the ram), Taurus (the bull), Gemini (the twins), Cancer (the crab), Leo (the lion), Virgo (the virgin), Libra (the scales), Scorpio (the scorpion), Sagittarius (the archer), and Capricorn (the goat).
